The useful work has an edge.
This protocol stops before the part of the day that belongs to people, rest, and everything that refuses to become a metric.
Start here: build a schedule yourself, or let current conditions choose a short workable path.
Today, Living Radar, Kitchen, Pantry Orbit, and routines are already filled in and linked. Test the connections, keep the whole day as an editable starting point, or begin blank.
Select only what belongs. BRR carries in the steps, guidance, meal details, and links to the rest of the system.
Choose a starting day, then check any additions below. Create my day combines the path and additions into one editable checklist.
Use an opening that is already happening—without turning every movement into work. BRR groups only recorded responsibilities, whole routines, shopping, or time-sensitive food that can genuinely save a restart, trip, or future problem.
Small life-skill steps stay together inside a chosen routine. Open the full checklist, use only essentials, or move through one step at a time.
Useful connections found from the information already on this device.
Saved privately on this device. Edit it here, turn it into the right part of the system, or discard it.
Everything unfinished stays visible here and can feed Today without being recreated.
Plan meals, buy only what is missing, then return purchased food to Pantry Orbit.
Track only food worth remembering. Its timing feeds Use First, meal choices, and shopping.
Choose a complete starting point, edit it first, then use it in Today, Radar, Kitchen, routines, or a private working tool.
Each path loads broad windows, major checkboxes, hidden subtask checkboxes, and connected meal anchors. Save any adaptation as your own reusable version.
Edit every prompt before using it. Repeatable entries stay on this device; companion buttons open the existing Radar, routine, project, or event template instead of creating duplicates.
Use a fully built, editable starting point below—or open a genuinely blank structure without deleting somebody else’s assumptions first.
Prefilled field modes set the conditions; live tasks, food, routines, and boundaries supply the actual protocol.
Editable recipes, household transitions, celebrations, travel, and recovery—connected by season.
Choose, change, save, and reuse the pieces that fit.
Activate only the life areas that should contribute optional guidance to Today.
The Bureau’s explanations live here so the working screens can stay focused on the day itself.
A task remains on the Radar even when it is used in Today’s Schedule. Completing it in either place updates both.
Shopping adds purchased food to Pantry. Marking a cooked meal complete adjusts tracked ingredients and can create prepared leftovers.
Ready-Made Days enter Today. Tasks, projects, and events enter Radar. Recipes enter the Kitchen shelf. Nothing is added silently.
Today’s Schedule receives Ready-Made Day Paths, schedules built in the Rapid Day Builder, and selected tasks, meals, and routines. It appears near the top of Today, opens once after a new day is created, and can then stay collapsed until the checklist is needed.
Anchor protects what matters most. Leverage uses work already in motion. Invitation leaves room for learning, connection, or wonder. The Stop Line prevents useful planning from eating the life it was meant to support.
Every suggestion is reversible. Select Why this to see the rule behind it.
A saved action earns a place only when it closes a real loop, prevents waste, reduces another setup or trip, meets an approaching date, or carries a whole chosen routine. BRR does not invent filler such as carrying a cup merely to make the list look optimized. When nothing meaningful fits, the correct protocol is to move through the opening without adding work.
Routine Paths can support someone learning daily living skills, a person who benefits from cognitive or developmental assistance, or anyone temporarily overloaded, overstimulated, exhausted, or carrying too many decisions. Every routine and cue is editable. BRR does not diagnose, grade independence, or scatter personal-care steps into unrelated Opportunity Protocols.
Small, visible rules look for repeated rollover, nearby dates, shared setup, unfinished captures, and time-sensitive food. No AI, remote processing, or hidden scoring is used. Suggestions never erase responsibilities, and every meaningful change still belongs to the human in charge.
Check work off from Radar or from Today’s Schedule; both update the same responsibility. Select any item to edit its description, subtasks, rhythm, context, or rollover behavior. Completed recurring responsibilities remain in Steady Rhythm and return when due.
Each slot can be cooked, repeated from an earlier meal, covered by Ready Reserve, assigned to a restaurant, or left open. Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Linner, Dinner, Snacks, and Dessert are optional daily planning spaces—not recipe rules. Any recipe or prepared meal can be used in any visible slot, including breakfast for dinner. Usual meal labels only improve suggestion order. Only a newly cooked recipe adds its ingredients to shopping. Use Repeat for a known leftover meal; use Ready Reserve when actual portions need counting. Ready Reserve holds prepared portions from home meal prep, meal-service companies, grocery prepared-food counters, and restaurant leftovers, with refrigerator and freezer quantities tracked separately.
Tap Opened Now when a container is opened. That deliberate tap starts its after-opening clock. If it was tapped by mistake, Undo opening clears the opening date and clock and restores the item’s prior rest timing. Items move through Arrived, Resting, Ready to Reappear, Use Soon, Use Next, and Review Now. BRR never declares uncertain food safe.
Ready-Made Day Paths load a whole, loosely ordered day into Today’s Schedule. Tasks, projects, and events open in their editor before entering Living Radar. Recipes enter Kitchen. Structured field tools keep logs, observations, reference cards, and worksheets private on this device; their companion buttons route real follow-up to Radar instead of duplicating task systems. Every starting point is prefilled and editable. Every editor can also download the current draft as a locally generated PDF with digitally checkable boxes; downloading does not save or add the draft to the system. Nothing is added silently.
Active modules may contribute tasks, references, or Invitations to the Opportunity Protocol. Deactivating a module pauses it; it does not erase its information.
The Bureau of Useful Things is a free, local-first program. Tasks, recipes, plans, checkmarks, settings, and custom templates save automatically in a private database on this device. It does not require an account, payment, AI service, advertising profile, or remote personal-data server.
Automatic recovery points are kept on the device and older ones are rotated so storage stays small. Program updates are installed separately from personal information: new BRR templates and structural improvements may be added, while personal entries, edits, settings, and completed work are preserved.
Important limit: local information cannot survive a lost or factory-reset device, or a deliberate clearing of browser/app data. A downloadable BRR backup is available in Settings for moving devices or keeping an independent copy.
The Bureau can be installed on a phone, tablet, or computer. On Android, open the browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen. On iPhone or iPad, use Safari’s Share menu and choose Add to Home Screen. On desktop, use the install icon in the address bar or the browser’s app menu. Browser wording may vary.
It opens in its own window and continues working offline after the first successful visit. When opened while online, it checks for updates automatically—there is no update page to monitor. If a new version is ready, an in-program notice offers Update safely now or Later. Updating first saves current work and creates a recovery point. A no-server program cannot send a push notification while it is completely closed, so the notice appears the next time the Bureau is opened online.
Automatic update checking is active on supported browsers.
Set the boundaries once. Today, Radar, Kitchen, and support tools follow them.
